• El Camino Real Bell at Pio Pico State Historical ParkMarking the original 700 mile El Camino Real route, are the infamous El Camino bells. A route with once 450 bells, today due to theft and vandalism there are only around 75 bells left remaining along El Camino Real. Whittier is known for housing one of these original historical artifacts at Pio Pico State Historical Park. Visitors of the park can take a tour and learn more about the history of Whittier. The park is dedicated to Pío Pico, the governor of California in 1832.
• Whittier’s Beautiful Parks and the Greenway TrailThe city of Whittier prides itself in its 19 parks. Whittier is known for beautifully preserved green acres of hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, and scenic views of LA, Catalina, and the famous Hollywood sign. A city favorite is the Whittier Greenway Trail, a local 4.5 mile tree-lined path for bikers and pedestrians to enjoy.
